"Alucard is not his name" The gypsy witch called this one right. Dracula ( using the name Count Alucard) arrives at Colonel Caldwell's plantation thanks to an invite from his daughter Katherine. Right away the Colonel is killed and the estate is left to the 2 daughters. One which is played by Evelyn Ankers who once agin is working with Lon Chaney Jr. There are quite a few memorable scenes in the film. My favorite is when Draculas' coffin rises from the river, a mist forms and he appears on the lid of the coffin and floats down to river to Katherine. That was very different. Lon Chaney Jr. protrayed Dracula as a more violent and angry vampire than Lugosi. This was also the first film to show Dracula changing into a bat on screen. Another Universal first.
